Announcement of Placement
Westpac announced today that it has commenced an institutional placement of its ordinary shares to raise A$2.5 billion to increase its capital resources, enhance its balance sheet flexibility and position itself to capture organic growth opportunities. The placement will be conducted by way of an institutional bookbuild on a fully underwritten basis. The ordinary shares have not been registered under the United States Securities Act of 1933, as amended, and may not be offered or sold in the United States or to or for the account or benefit of U.S. persons unless the shares are registered under such Act or an exemption from the registration requirements of the Act is available.
