On August 5, 2009, Standard Motor Products, Inc. (the “Company”) issued a press release announcing its financial results for the three months and six months ended June 30, 2009. A copy of such press release is furnished as Exhibit 99.1 hereto.

Universal Shelf Registration Statement on Form S-3

On August 5, 2009, the Company issued a press release announcing its intent to file a universal shelf registration statement on Form S-3 with the SEC to register the offer and sale from time to time of up to an aggregate of $75 million of securities, which may consist of common stock, preferred stock, debt securities, warrants, depositary shares, stock purchase contracts or units consisting of any of the foregoing.

A copy of such press release is attached as Exhibit 99.2 hereto and incorporated herein by reference.
