First Quarter 2006 Results

ATHENS, GREECE, May 10, 2006 – Excel Maritime Carriers (NYSE: EXM) announced today that it will release its first quarter 2006 results for the period ended March 31, 2006 after the close of the market in New York on Wednesday, May 17, 2006.


The next day, Thursday, May 18, 2006 at 10:00 a.m. EDT, the company’s management will host a conference call to discuss the results.
