AUO June 2004 Consolidated Revenues Totaled NT$15.9 Billion

Hsinchu, Taiwan, July 7th, 2004 –

AU Optronics Corp. (“AUO” or the “Company”) (TAIEX: 2409; NYSE: AUO) today announced unaudited consolidated net sales of NT$15,871 million and unconsolidated net sales of NT$15,865 million for the month of June 2004.

June shipment for large-size TFT-LCD panels, inclusive of panels for desktop monitor, notebook, LCD TV, and other applications, experienced a seasonal decline in PC applications, down 5.7% sequentially to 1.53 million. Unit shipment for small- and medium-size panels in June 2004 continued to improve, up 12.2% from May 2004 to 2.72 million units.

Consolidated revenues for the month decrease 4.7% M-o-M, but increased 94.3% Y-o-Y, while unconsolidated net sales decreased 4.6% M-o-M and increased 109.1% Y-o-Y, respectively. Consolidated revenues reached quarterly record of NT$48,534 million in second quarter 2004, up 103.6% Y-o-Y. For the first half of 2004, consolidated revenues totaled NT$89,865 million, a 113.4% increase over the same period in 2003.
