AU Optronics Corp. January 2005 Consolidated Revenues Totaled NT$12.7 Billion

Hsinchu, Taiwan, February 5, 2005 –

AU Optronics Corp. (“AUO” or the “Company”) (TAIEX: 2409; NYSE: AUO) today announced preliminary consolidated net sales of NT$12,702 million and unconsolidated net sales of NT$12,690 million for the month of January 2005.

Preliminary January shipments of large-sized panels for applications such as desktop monitor, notebook PC, LCD TV, and other applications decreased by 2.1% M-o-M to 1.90 million, mainly due to seasonal weakness in notebook segment (a). Shipments of small- and medium-sized panels resumed a seasonal decline in January, decreasing by 19.4% from December to 2.51 million.

Unaudited consolidated revenues for the month of January 2005 decreased by 4.8% sequentially, while unconsolidated net sales fell 2.4% from December. On a year-over-year basis, consolidated fell 1.7%, while unconsolidated net sales rose 4.6% .
