AU Optronics Corp. ("AUO" or the "Company") (TAIEX: 2409; NYSE: AUO) announced today that the Taiwan Taoyuan District Prosecutors’ Office has brought criminal charges against Mr. Kuen-Yao (K.Y.) Lee, Chairman of the Company, for alleged violations of the Taiwan Securities Exchange Act for his involvement in inaccurate disclosure of his shareholdings in Qisda Corporation in his capacity as chairman of Qisda Corporation. Mr. K.Y. Lee has retained counsel and seeks to defend the case vigorously. These charges do not involve Mr. K.Y. Lee acting in the capacity as Chairman of the Company, nor is AUO a party to these charges. The Company does not expect this event to have any material adverse impact on its business or operations.
