WASHINGTON, DC, July 29, 2025 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Habitat America, a Washington-based nonprofit, is leading the national charge to celebrate America's' 250th birthday through a New Years Eve fundraiser in Las Vegas, For the People: The Semiquincentennial of America. The nonprofit will also host, a series of public events, exhibits, and festivals planned for July 2026. The July event aims to raise awareness about the upcoming November elections.

However, the organization reports that a law firm with known ties to the Trump Administration has launched a campaign to disrupt its efforts. The nonprofit says it has received threats of legal action, personal intimidation against board members , and communications sent to outside agencies in an apparent attempt to derail the fundraiser's ticket sales, merchandise, and event sponsorships. The attacks, Habitat America says, has already resulted in more than $350,000 in financial losses.

"This celebration is about honoring 250 years of freedom and unity," said Kris James, co-chair of the initiative. "We have been asked to destroy our merchandise. We will not allow political forces or corporate-backed law firms to silence the voices of everyday Americans. These events are for the people — and we need the public's help to ensure they happen."

To fund its 2026 programming and protect against mounting legal costs, the Habitat America is launching a nationwide fundraising initiative with a short deadline of August 10, 2025.

Supporters of Habitat America can help their recovery by attending the New Year's Eve Las Vegas event: OR by purchase of Limited-edition "FREEDOM 250" merchandise from the AmericanDay.org website.

All proceeds will support free public events, traveling history exhibits, educational programming, voter registration drives, and inclusive festivals designed to commemorate America's shared story while uplifting American communities.

"We're calling on patriotic citizens, educators, artists, veterans, and families across the country," James added. "Your support is crucial to ensure this historic milestone remains unifying, inspiring, and accessible to all."
