New Historical-Fiction Novel Merlin’s Return by Robin W. Wells Officially Released

Robin W. Wells has announced the release of his new novel, Merlin’s Return, a work that combines historical investigation with modern discovery. The book is now officially launched, and offers readers an exploration into the origins of one of Britain’s most enduring legends through the lens of newly uncovered, ancient writings.

Merlin’s Return centres on the discovery of an extremely old manuscript attributed to a scribe named Merlin. Drawing on the existence of several incomplete 8th-century documents held by the British Museum, the novel examines the possibility that early interpretations by the Church and academics may have been shaped by gaps in historical records. As the ancient text is slowly deciphered, it reveals information that could challenge long-held beliefs. The narrative also follows rising tensions as different groups attempt either to obtain the parchments for profit or destroy them due to their potentially damaging contents. The story moves between fact and fiction so closely that readers are left questioning where the truth may lie.

Speaking on why he wrote the novel, author Robin W. Wells said:

I have always been fascinated by how much of our history is incomplete, interpreted, or assumed. The idea for this book grew from wondering what might happen if a document surfaced that challenged everything we thought we knew. I wanted to explore how ordinary people would respond when faced with extraordinary evidence, and how institutions might react when long-accepted narratives are questioned. The story allowed me to bring together my interest in the past with my love of writing.”

Merlin’s Return is now available through Amazon
