Humanity’s “Goldilocks Moment”: A Scientist’s Wake-Up Call for Earth’s Future
The Universe, Planet Earth, and Humanity: Scientific and Religious Perspectives by Armand Francis Lewis PhD
At 93, scientist and author Armand Francis Lewis delivers a most urgent warning in his book The Universe, Planet Earth, and Humanity: Scientific and Religious Perspectives. Blending science and faith, he traces billions of years of cosmic history to show that only in the last two millennia has humanity thrived as a fully connected and functionally operating world society.

He calls our era the “Goldilocks Generation,” a moment when conditions for life are “just right,” yet dangerously unstable. Unless climate change is controlled within the next century, he warns, Earth could face catastrophic decline.

Mixing cosmic origins, human history, and moral responsibility, Lewis weaves together the Big Bang, the rise of civilization, and the teachings of Christ.

Like Rachel Carson’s Silent Spring, this book sounds an alarm that cannot be ignored.

The question remains, will this and future generations rise to the challenge, or will humanity’s “just right” moment slip away forever?

About the Author

Over his long career, Dr. Lewis worked as a research chemist and materials scientist at leading corporations, later transitioning to academia. He taught textile chemistry, polymer science, and environmental science at UMass Dartmouth, where he continues to serve as Adjunct Research Professor.

With more than six decades of experience in industry and education, Dr. Lewis has authored countless reports, scientific papers, and technical documents. His latest book draws from a lifetime of study in materials science, quantum physics, and the dialogue between science and faith.

He lives in Zelienople, Pennsylvania, with his wife of 67 years, Joan. Together, they have two sons, six grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren, and counting.
