UNIONDALE, NY / ACCESS Newswire / January 31, 2025 / Marquis Who's Who honors George J. Mavrookas for his expertise in mental health care and substance abuse. Mr. Mavrookas has dedicated his career to helping individuals struggling with mental health disorders and substance abuse.
While many with entrepreneurial spirits thrive, there exist exceptional individuals who use their success and sharp business acumen to contribute to their communities. Mr. Mavrookas is one such individual. As the founder and chief executive officer of Agape Behavioral Healthcare, Mr. Mavrookas' work has reached many patients.
Starting in the hospitality sector, Mr. Mavrookas found financial success when he opened a family restaurant business in Florida. However, he wanted to do more for his community. Inspired by his family's legacy, he went on to establish a chain of treatment centers that offer detox programs for those struggling with mental health and substance abuse. Through work ethic, versatility and dedication to serving, Mr. Mavrookas inspires others to succeed and thrive. With Agape Behavioral Healthcare's new location in Fort Pierce, his work will reach more on their journeys to better mental health and a substance-free life.
Mr. Mavrookas was primed to enter the hospitality industry from a young age. Growing up in New Jersey, he inherited a legacy of hard work and determination from his immigrant grandparents, who had arrived in the United States with only nickels in their pockets. Through determination and a robust work ethic, they established thriving restaurants and successful real estate ventures. Inspired, Mr. Mavrookas began his career in the restaurant business at 13 years old. He later honed his business skills by obtaining an undergraduate degree and a Master of Business Administration degree. Mr. Mavrookas went on to follow in his grandparents' footsteps, opening a restaurant in Florida.
For five years, Mr. Mavrookas dedicated his business expertise to running his restaurant. However, he realized he could do more for his community if he expanded his enterprises. In 2016, he ventured into mental health care and founded Agape Behavioral Healthcare. Agape Behavioral Healthcare is a chain of treatment centers offering medical detox programs and support for patients with substance use disorders and co-occurring mental health diagnoses. For substance abuse services, Agape Behavioral Healthcare has a comprehensive list of services, including inpatient and outpatient care. For those seeking mental health services, the organization provides outpatient care. It also contributes to educating the next generation of mental health care providers through internships with Lynn University's psychology students.
Over the course of seven years, Mr. Mavrookas expanded Agape Behavioral Healthcare to two operational locations with a dedicated workforce of 85 employees. It has been listed in the Best Places to Work in South Florida for companies of its size for the years 2023 and 2024, in addition to a Specialty Award for Exceptional Employee Engagement. Agape Behavioral Healthcare has now opened its third location in Force Pierce, with an employee count numbering over 100. Through this new location, Agape Behavioral Healthcare is ready to expand its services to new communities.
Beyond Agape Behavioral Healthcare, Mr. Mavrookas is a proud supporter of numerous local charities, including 4KIDS of South Florida. Outside of his career, he makes sure that leading a multi-million-dollar company does not hinder his duties as a father. He maintains a strong work-life balance, ensuring he is available to pick up his son from school each day.
Looking to the future, Mr. Mavrookas hopes to keep expanding the services of his company. He plans for Agape Behavioral Healthcare to venture into treating eating disorders in 2025, providing inpatient care from clinical and medical perspectives. In all of his endeavors, Mr. Mavrookas seeks to make a greater impact on the communities around him. With strong business sensibilities and an inheritance of hard work and determination, he has helmed an organization that helps others get back on their feet and live more fulfilling lives. As Agape Behavioral Healthcare expands, Mr. Mavrookas' legacy of doing better grows alongside it.
