Interim HealthCare Inc. Names 2022 Nurse of the Year

Bernestine Griddine of Charlotte, North Carolina recognized for her passion and dedication to making a difference in patients’ lives

Interim HealthCare Inc., the nation’s leading franchise network of home care, senior care, home health, hospice and healthcare staffing services, today announced Bernestine Griddine as its 2022 Nurse of the Year. A registered nurse at Interim HealthCare of Charlotte, North Carolina, Bernestine is celebrated for her superior patient care, professionalism and enthusiasm that she brings to her role every day.

“Bernestine is one of the greatest nurses I have ever worked with,” said Margaret Webb, CEO of Interim HealthCare of Charlotte. “Over the past two challenging years, she never hesitated to provide care to active COVID-19 patients or volunteer to administer COVID-19 testing and was the first nurse in line at the Bojangles Coliseum to get vaccinated when it was announced for home health workers. Her passion for nursing is unparalleled and I couldn’t imagine a more deserving recipient of this honor.”

Bernestine brings 30-plus years of nursing experience to her position and has been with Interim HealthCare of Charlotte since 2007. She shares her wealth of knowledge by training new nurses, often spending time with them in the home and working after hours to assist with questions they have regarding documentation of paperwork. To ensure her patients are receiving the best possible outcomes, Bernestine is also driven to learn about new therapies, equipment and specialized care procedures.

She takes a personal approach with her patients and tailors her methods so that they fully understand the care process, resulting in countless letters written on Bernestine’s behalf about the difference she makes in patients’ lives. This superior care has resulted in Bernestine having the lowest number of rehospitalizations within the company, despite working with many challenging medical circumstances.

“I feel so honored and appreciative of this recognition from Interim HealthCare as its 2022 Nurse of the Year,” said Bernestine Griddine. “Having spent nearly half of my career with Interim HealthCare, I am grateful for the company’s continuous support and its mission to provide patients with the help they need in their preferred place of care – home. Even when the going gets tough like it has the past few years, it remains a privilege to be a nurse and to make a difference in the lives of patients and their families.”

Interim HealthCare awards the Nurse of the Year honor to an individual who embodies the true heart of nursing as well as the company’s core values of integrity, compassion, customer focus, innovation and responsibility. Nominations were submitted for exceptional nurses from Interim HealthCare locations across the country as part of the company’s annual celebration of National Nurses Week in May.
