ModMed® Launches Resource Center to Help Medical Practices With Staff Retention

The center is designed to be a resource where providers can go for advice and best practices for staff retention and share tips and experiences back to help support the community

Practices are facing the reality of staff shortages at an alarming rate. According to a recent study conducted by Morning Consult, an estimated one in five healthcare workers quit during the COVID-19 pandemic.1 Additionally, an estimated 29% of medical staff say they are considering leaving the industry altogether, primarily due to burnout.2

In response to this, healthcare technology leader ModMed® has launched a comprehensive resource center, Rethinking Your Staffing Strategy, aimed at helping physicians and practice managers retain their essential staff.

The center includes useful advice on attracting and retaining talent, including a blog series on staffing strategies, a series of webinars, and a free guide to learning best practices for onboarding new staff.

“We were not content staying on the sidelines with the large volume of healthcare leaders reporting recruitment challenges,” said Dr. John Guiliana, medical director at ModMed. “Our resource center offers novel strategies that can help healthcare practices thrive during this challenging time.”

Dr. Guiliana recently moderated the webinar Recruiting, Retaining and Re-energizing Staff that provided practical tips to solving staffing issues.

The webinar featured a specialist on employee satisfaction, Susan Hibbs of KarenZupko & Associates, and practice leaders Nicole Fick, physician engagement and relationship coordinator at Michigan Surgery Specialists, and Noah England,* executive director at Solinsky EyeCare, who shared their challenges and successes while navigating through common staffing obstacles. The panel discussed which benefits may matter most to a workforce, ideas for new places to consider recruiting staff, and how employee appreciation and training employees on new skills can lead to long-term retention.

Consensus was that technology can help ease labor shortages by boosting operational efficiency. The use of intuitive digital tools can increase productivity across many industries, and healthcare is no exception.

Guiliana added: “Our company mission is to place doctors and patients at the center of care through an intelligent, specialty-specific cloud platform. We aim to continue innovating our software so that it can help reduce burnout and retain staff at healthcare practices.”
