Kuwana city is located 20 minutes by train from Nagoya, which is one of the three largest metropolitan areas in Japan. Situated at the mouth of the Three Kiso Rivers, (Kiso river, Ibi river, and Nagara river) it has been gaining popularity by foreign visitors in recent years as a scenic city with various tourist attractions, including food culture such as Hamaguri clams and Japanese Black, “ROKKAEN,” a distinctive building designated as an important cultural property, and Ishidori Matsuri, known as the loudest festival in Japan.
With the increase of the number of foreign residents, Kuwana city has been taking initiatives to become a “Foreigner-Friendly City.” This includes the “Concierge Service for Foreign Residents” opened this June in the city hall to provide support, such as daily life consultations, in multiple languages. The “Global Festa 2024” was also held as one of the city’s initiatives to promote multicultural conviviality.
Stay tuned for future initiatives and we hope you make a visit to Kuwana city when you are in Japan.
