Tennessee schools that used STEMscopes Math from Accelerate Learning Inc. in grade four math instruction had significantly higher passing rates on the 2024 Tennessee Ready (TNReady!) Math test compared to 2023. In a new research report, results show that passing rates jumped 15 percentage points on average and that increases were found across all student groups.
The 2023-24 school year was the first year of program implementation for STEMscopes Math. In the research study, researchers evaluated school mathematics growth via TNReady! Math scores in the third grade and again at the end of the fourth grade. Across the schools that used STEMscopes Math, school passing rates increased on average from 34% in 2023 to 49% in 2024.
In addition, schools that used STEMscopes Math had higher 2024 TNReady! fourth grade passing rates compared to schools that did not use the program. In the STEMscopes Math schools, the mean passing rate among all students was 49%. In the non-STEMscopes schools, it was 44%.
STEMscopes Math is built from the ground up by practicing educators using the flexible 5E plus Intervention and Acceleration lesson model. The program combines digital and print components to provide everything teachers need to create meaningful math learning experiences for students. Hands-on also kits make workstations easy to set up and make learning experiences more equitable.
Last fall, STEMscopes Math for grades K-8 received all-green ratings across all gateways from EdReports. The all-green score is EdReports’ highest rating and indicates that the program meets expectations for alignment to college- and career-ready standards and other aspects of quality, and for usability.
