Virewirx Awarded $1.9M Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) Contract from Office of the Under Secretary of War (OUSW)

Virewirx system to incorporate Globalstar XCOM RAN Private 5G Platform

Virewirx has been awarded a Phase II $1.9 million Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) OUSW (R&E) FutureG contract from the Office of the Under Secretary of War (OUSW) to develop an advanced 5G system designed to perform reliably in challenging Radio Frequency (RF) environments. This breakthrough technology will enable mission-critical communications in previously impossible environments, ensuring warfighters maintain connectivity for coordination, safety, and operational success in ships, hangars, and other demanding locations where traditional wireless systems fail.

Virewirx selected telecom leader Globalstar (NASDAQ: GSAT) as a technology partner for the project, based on the strength of the company’s Globalstar XCOM RAN Private 5G platform. XCOM RAN platform utilizes cooperative processing technology that eliminates traditional RF planning requirements while providing interference immunity and self-organizing capabilities.

“At Virewirx, we are building the future of mission-critical wireless connectivity. We're honored to work with OUSW on this project to ensure our warfighters have the secure, high-performance wireless infrastructure they need for mission success and operational superiority in any environment,” said Jason Fiber, CEO of Virewirx. “Virewirx brings to this contract advanced engineering capabilities, extensive development experience, and a proven technology platform in the Globalstar XCOM RAN Private 5G platform.”

In Phase I of this SBIR contract, Globalstar’s XCOM RAN platform was evaluated for the Department of Defense deployment in a warehouse environment. In a third party benchmark study of the XCOMP solution, the Globalstar XCOM RAN platform delivered uninterrupted connectivity and four times the throughput compared to traditional wireless solutions including Wi-Fi, Distributed Antenna Systems (DAS), and small cells.

Tamer Kadous, General Manager of Globalstar Terrestrial Networks noted, “This contract validates XCOM RAN's capabilities and represents a significant opportunity for Virewirx and Globalstar to support the Office of the Under Secretary of War (OUSW) in utilizing XCOM RAN 5G platform for unique military applications. We are committed to delivering a new benchmark for private 5G networking that is both powerful and effortless to deploy.”
