The June 5, 2021 hybrid ‘Catch Flights’ mini-summit is the beginning of an exciting new era of Post-Covid travel. Essential professionals will be featured at this half-day event in the Miami Design District including an eclectic mix of entrepreneurs, investors, and content creators; representing a variety of group travel, concierge, and event management businesses. Hyatt and American Airlines will also be on hand as event sponsors. The June 5th ‘Catch Flights’ schedule is available now along with tickets.
The ‘Catch Flights’ retro-travel-themed event is set to bring back everything you miss about traveling without needing to catch a flight. Along with a Ballet performance, a travel fashion runway show, a pop-up shop focused on Black businesses, and Mediterranean-inspired cuisine; speakers will cover topics that include, ‘Becoming a Travelpreneur’ and ‘Diversifying Tourism Marketing.’ Hyatt’s Global Vice President of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion, Tyronne Stoudemire, and Hyatt’s Director of Cluster Finance, Danielle Banks, will also open the summit with the keynote address.
“At Hyatt, diversity, equity and inclusion (DE&I) are top priorities and we have a longstanding commitment to creating welcoming and inclusive environments where all guests and colleagues feel that they belong,” said Hyatt’s Stoudemire. “There is a tremendous opportunity to make travel more inclusive for all individuals and we are thrilled to come together with the Black Travel Summit community for the second year in a row to listen to Black travelers’ experiences, engage in thought-provoking discussions and uncover new opportunities to drive meaningful change throughout the travel industry. As Hyatt makes progress toward our Change Starts Here commitments, we remain focused on applying key learnings and insights from Black Travel Summit to our DE&I efforts.”
The founder of the Black Travel Summit and brainchild of the ‘Catch Flights’ experience, Anita Francois, offers unique insights to travel. Born and raised in London, UK, to a Seychellois mother and Haitian father, Anita has had an affinity for traveling, history, and cultures from a young age. She is a museum curator, an archaeologist, and a global traveler.
Miss Francois has traveled to over 30 countries, many of them multiple times. Her goal in founding the Black Travel Summit is to encourage Black travelers to seek experiences outside their comfort zones safely and under budget. A major focus of the Black Travel Summit is also to educate Black travelers and travel professionals on generational wealth and growing a business; and the overarching travel industry on the explorers of the global Black diaspora, in addition to inviting leaders to speak on diversity, equity and inclusion in travel.
The mission of The Black Travel Summit is to support, expand and enhance the voices of the Black Travel Industry. ‘Catch Flights’ is one of the many year-round virtual and live events organized and hosted by the Summit, which brings together professionals, travelers, and influencers within the Black travel space. Last year, the Black Travel Summit organized 16 events welcoming over 80 speakers, partners, and sponsors, and hosted over 6,000 attendees. ‘Catch Flights’ on June 5th will be the next successful takeoff for the Black travel industry.
This half-day event has been made possible by the support of our sponsors, partners, and vendors who reflect a small spectrum of the Black travel industry and allies that we have worked with.
We are proudly sponsored by Hyatt and American Airlines.
