Known as the monthly community braai at Castle Kyalami, friends and neighbors gathered not only for a good meal, good chats and to support each other, they also gathered to usher in spring in style.

The gaiety of children in the bouncy house and the smell of fresh flowers mixed with a proper braai filled the air as neighbors, government officials, religious leaders, NGOs, educators and businessman all over Midrand gathered for the monthly affair at the Castle which has become a hit with the locals and a chance to experience a day in a real life castle according to the community affairs director for Castle Kyalami, Alice Meiring.

“It’s always a pleasure to come together and sit down as a community and celebrate whatever occasion. Summer is finally here and it’s only right that we welcome it together, the South African way, with a braai,” said Meiring.

During the many festivities, a neighbor who attended the braai, Ms. Vanessa, was very happy to be present with her family and said “It’s always a wonderful time when I am here. This is truly a magical place and I am always looking forward to meet with the rest of the community, Castle Kyalami really knows how to bring us all together”.

Dineo Senoamadi, President of the Castle Kyalami also commented and said,” The Castle is a home for the community and we are always eager to join hands and contribute to the betterment of everyone.”

Meiring, who is a constant advocate in getting the community together also said “It was and still is an honor for us to be of service to our community.”

Another neighbor, who came for the first time, also expressed her joy and said, “I had such a good experience this afternoon at the sponsored Community Braai at the Castle Kyalami-good food, entertainment, fire and in the spirit of building community. This is a great place for us to relax and discuss all our issues and challenges we face and craft solutions to combat them.”

Meiring concluded by saying, “As neighbors and fellow humans, we should all be working together towards a better society for us all. Regardless of color, religion and all things that divide us, at the end of the day we all find joy in the things that unite us, such as a simple braai. Our Founder L. Ron Hubbard taught us to have a friendly relationship with our environment and only working together can we really flourish and prosper.

The Castle also holds various community events ranging from skills development to life empowerment seminars and anyone is welcome to attend.
