Buggyra ZM Racing will begin its 2025 GT Cup Series campaign this weekend (May 16–18) at the Red Bull Ring in Austria, marking the on-track debut of its newly launched FACE OFF program.
-- Regular Buggyra ZM Racing driver Aliyyah Koloc will be replaced by Martin Hudec for this race as she will be participating in the Taklimakan Rally starting on May 19 in China.
Announced earlier this week in Prague, FACE OFF is a season-long development initiative by Buggyra Academy designed to accelerate the growth of two young Czech drivers, Filip Nedoma (18) and Miroslav Mikeš (16). Each will share a GT Cup car with an experienced professional driver, competing under standard championship regulations while gaining valuable race experience.
For the first round, Miroslav Mikeš will be partnered with 44-year-old experienced rally and circuit racer Martin Hudec. He will be stepping in for regular Buggyra ZM Racing driver Aliyyah Koloc, who is preparing for her first participation in the Taklimakan Rally in China starting next week. Filip Nedoma will race alongside Czech GT veteran Adam Lacko.
“The Red Bull Ring will be the first opportunity to see how our young drivers and the team perform under race conditions,” said Martin Koloc, CEO and team principal of Buggyra ZM Racing. “This program is designed to offer significant development opportunities through real competition, not just simulators or tests.”
Not just a driver development program
The FACE OFF program is also intended to benefit the whole race team, providing practical experience to young engineers, mechanics, and support staff working alongside senior personnel. The two young drivers, Filip Nedoma and Miroslav Mikeš will be assessed throughout the season with the help of a specifically developed internal evaluation system, with metrics ranging from race performance and technical feedback to off-track development.
“FACE OFF is not intended to be a championship within a championship,” said Jan Koubek, CEO of Buggyra Academy. “It’s fully integrated into the GT Cup Series, giving our drivers a realistic and safe environment in which to learn.”
First race at the famous Red Bull Ring
The GT Cup opener at the Red Bull Ring will serve as the first of several opportunities this season to follow the progress of Buggyra’s FACE OFF program in action.
The Red Bull Ring is a very fast 4.318 km long track with long straights in Austria. The GT CUP Series has been holding races at the Red Bull Ring since 2016.
The weekend will be split into a 1-hour endurance race on Saturday and two sprint races on Sunday. Qualifying for the endurance race takes place on Saturday at 10.10 am with the race starting at 5.50 pm. Qualifying for the sprint races will take place on Saturday at 1.25 pm with the two 25-minute sprint races starting at 9.20 am and 1.20 pm.
