The Third Edition of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques Camel Festival… The Most Valuable Prize Pool

-- The competitions of the third edition of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques Camel Festival will kick off on January 23, under the patronage of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud — may God protect him — at the historic Janadriyah Camel Racing Track in the Saudi capital, Riyadh, and will run for ten days.

The festival features participation across five approved categories, in addition to the human jockey race for both women and men, as well as Mazayin (camel beauty) contests held as part of the accompanying events.

The total prize pool has exceeded SAR 75 million, marking the largest overall prize value in the history of the festival, according to the official schedule approved by the Saudi Camel Federation.

The total prize money allocated to the General, Open, and Human Jockey races amounts to SAR 35.9 million, while SAR 36.4 million has been designated for the Cup and Symbol races, and SAR 2.7 million for the Mazayin competitions.

The organizing committee allocated prize money across all categories as follows:

SAR 16.18 million for the Hagayeg category,

SAR 14.3 million for the Lagaya category,

SAR 12.916 million for the Jezaa category,

SAR 10.284 million for the Thanaya category,

SAR 17.68 million for the Heel and Zoomool category.

Prize money for the men’s human jockey race amounts to SAR 564,000, while the women’s human jockey race is allocated SAR 376,000, in addition to SAR 2.7 million dedicated to the Mazayin competitions.

The prize list also includes the distribution of 36 trophies to owners and trainers, along with four prestigious symbols — a Sword and a Rifle — awarded to the owners who claim the championship titles in the festival’s final races. The most valuable single prize at the festival is SAR 2.5 million, awarded to the owner who wins the “Heel – Open” and “Heel – General” races on the closing day.

It is worth noting that the first edition of the festival was held in 2024 and witnessed the participation of more than 2,000 camel owners with a total of 6,869 camels, representing 13 countries. The second edition, held in 2025, recorded notable growth, with the number of owners increasing to 2,112, the number of camels rising to 7,300, and participating countries expanding to 16, underscoring the growing global interest in the event.
