Avamere Announces Partnership with Dream Flights

Avamere Living's community-based care division supports Operation September Freedom's national effort by non-profit Dream Flights to locate and honor as many World War II veterans as possible with free flights in 6 restored Boeing Stearman biplanes.

WILSONVILLE, Ore. - May 19, 2021 - (Newswire.com)

Avamere Living's community-based care (CBC) division is proud to support Operation September Freedom (OSF), a national effort by non-profit Dream Flights to locate and honor as many World War II veterans as possible with free Dream Flights in six restored Boeing Stearman biplanes. Dream Flights has honored more than 4,200 veterans and seniors living in long-term care communities since 2011. This is the first mission to honor veterans who served in a particular war.

"Operation September Freedom is the largest barnstorming event in our nation's history and our last opportunity to actively recognize the men and women whose sacrifice led to the Sept. 2, 1945, signing of the Japanese Instrument of Surrender, which effectively ended WWII," stated Darryl Fisher, founder and President of Dream Flights. "Of the 16 million Americans who served in WWII, only an estimated 100,000 are still living - the youngest 92."

"I'm excited to forge this partnership," stated Thomas Cloutier, Vice President of Sales and Marketing, Avamere Living Community-Based Care. "This is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for our veteran residents, and I'm thrilled that some of them can be a part of this venture."

Dream Flights pilots, who primarily fly for major airlines and are active-duty or retired military veterans themselves, will volunteer their time to fly these veterans in the country's largest fleet of restored/fully operational Stearman biplanes. During the 20-minute flight, veterans experience the freedom and exhilaration of soaring 1,000 feet in the air in an iconic, open-cockpit-biplane.

Dream Flights expects to honor more than 1,000 WWII veterans during the 60-day barnstorming event. Dream Flights are always free to participants. Supporters can make a tax-deductible donation here — 100% of the proceeds benefit the program.
