Immune therapy, which takes advantage of the patient’s own immune response, has been observed to be effective for plantar warts treatment, but until recently, doctors had to depend on medications and injections. With the Saorsa Swift device, they are now able to treat the root cause of plantar warts using immune therapy that depends on microwave energy. It offers several advantages. First of all, there is less pain because the Swift device involves minimal discomfort, which only lasts for about two seconds. Second, there is minimal debridement because the microwave technology doesn’t break the skin surface but penetrates the affected tissue to a pre-determined depth. And lastly, there is little to no recovery time with patients being able to return to their normal activities immediately after the treatment session.
The microwave energy from the Swift device agitates the water molecules within the tissue, which then collide and create heat. This stimulates the body’s natural immune response and this works against the virus causing the wart. The Swift device is made up of a compact portable generator that has an applicator to accurately direct the microwave energy to the appropriate location. The treatment is very fast and several warts can be treated in one session. Each session can usually be completed in less than 15 minutes.
