Native Sons of the Golden West honored for preserving California’s past and strengthening its communities.

The Native Sons of the Golden West of Amador County will be honored with the Heritage Award at the Amador County Chamber of Commerce’s Business Person of the Year Dinner, taking place Thursday, October 30, 2025, at the Italian Picnic Grounds in Sutter Creek.
This annual event celebrates local excellence in business and community service, recognizing those who contribute to Amador County’s cultural and economic vitality. In addition to the Native Sons’ Heritage Award, this year’s honorees include Roaring Camp Mining Co. and the Rodman Family, recipients of the Business Person of the Year Award; the Native Daughters of the Golden West of Amador County, receiving the Service Award; and Septicco, receiving the Discovery Award.
“We are deeply honored to be recognized for our ongoing efforts to preserve and celebrate California’s history,” said Marcia Skelton, PR Chairman for the Native Sons of the Golden West. “This award reflects the dedication of our members and their shared commitment to protecting the legacy of Amador County and the Golden State as a whole.”
Founded in 1875, the Native Sons of the Golden West (NSGW) is a historic fraternal organization devoted to the preservation and promotion of California’s unique heritage. Through restoration projects, educational programs, and community engagement, the NSGW works to honor the state’s pioneers, safeguard landmarks, and inspire civic pride among future generations. With parlors across California, the organization continues to uphold its founding mission of “Friendship, Loyalty, and Charity.”
The evening will feature a no-host bar at 5:00 p.m., dinner at 6:00 p.m., and award presentations to follow. Tickets are $75 per person or $700 for a table of eight, which includes premium placement and table signage.
