Horizon Air: 5th Most On-time Airline in the World

Horizon Air is No. 5 in the world in on-time performance and No. 1 in the United States – according to Forbes.com, using 2009 data compiled by Portland, Ore.-based FlightStats. Horizon was one of only two U.S. airlines to make the worldwide top 10 list.

“Day in and day out, Horizon Air’s focus is on meeting our core promises to customers: delivering them to their destination safely, on time, with their luggage,” said President and CEO Jeff Pinneo. “It’s truly gratifying to see the dedication and drive of Horizon’s people reflected in this high worldwide ranking.”

Horizon operated 142,094 flights in 2009. Of those flights, 85.88 percent were on time (less than 15 minutes late), according to FlightStats.

Named Regional Airline of the Year by Air Transport World magazine in 2007, Horizon served more than 6.7 million passengers in 2009. In every year since 2002, Condé Nast Traveler’s business travelers have ranked Horizon among the top 5 domestic single-class airlines.

Horizon serves 48 cities throughout Arizona, California, Oregon, Washington, Idaho, Montana, Nevada, Baja California Sur (Mexico), and British Columbia and Alberta (Canada). Together, Horizon Air and Alaska Airlines serve more than 90 cities and are subsidiaries of Alaska Air Group, Inc. (NYSE:ALK).
