Southwestern College in Santa Fe is proud to announce that they have received the approval to offer the classes necessary for a LADAC certification in New Mexico.

Counselors in New Mexico who wish to provide treatment for those with substance abuse problems must have what is known as a Licensed Alcohol and Drug Abuse Counselor (LADAC) certificate. This certification requires not only a counseling or related degree, but also an additional 276 hours of education and training in order to prepare the recipient for the unique nature of this type of work. Southwestern College is pleased to announce that it its curriculum has now been approved by the State of New Mexico for eligibility to sit for the LADAC credential.
“This is a valuable resource for both our students as well as northern New Mexico,” explains Southwestern College President Dr. Jim Nolan. “Certified substance abuse counselors are in high demand, and, for graduates looking for a position in the field, having that certification in place will give them an advantage as they transition to their careers.”
