The Pompano Beach Amphitheater Will Resonate with the Spirit of the Grateful Dead
DELRAY BEACH, Fla. - Oct. 22, 2015 - PRLog -- Pompano Beach Arts and AEG Live will bring the energy and the experience of the Grateful Dead to The Amp, The Pompano Beach Amphitheater, with an incredible performance by Dark Star Orchestra. Performing to worldwide critical acclaim for nearly 15 years and over 2000 shows, DSO recreates song-for-song performances straight from the set list of historic Grateful Dead shows. DSO achieves a continuation of the spirit of the Grateful Dead and offers fans a chance to experience concerts from decades past. Tickets go on sale October 23rd for the February 12th show. Tickets $28 in advance; $30 at the door.  Ticketmaster or www.pompanobeacharts.org for more details.

"For us it's a chance to recreate some of the magic that was created for us over the years," rhythm guitarist and vocalist Rob Eaton explains. "We offer a sort of a historical perspective of what it might have been like to go to a show in 1985, 1978 or whenever. Even for Deadheads who can say they've been to a hundred shows in the 90s, we offer something they never got to see live."

The shows are built off the Dead’s extensive catalog and the talent of 7 fine musicians. On any given night the band will perform a show based on a set list from the Grateful Dead's 30 years of extensive touring or use their catalog to program a unique set list for the show. This allows fans both young and old to share in the experience. By recreating set lists from the past, and by developing their own sets of Dead songs, Dark Star Orchestra offers a continually evolving artistic outlet within this musical canon.

Made up of Jeff Mattson (Jerry Garcia), Lisa Mackey (Donna Jean Godchaux), Dino English (Bill Kreutzmann), Rob Koritz (Mickey Hart), Skip Vangelas (Phil Lesh), Rob Eaton (Bob Weir) and Rob Barraco (multiple keyboardists), DSO isn't a cover band. Its shows are not even meant as tributes. What DSO achieves is a continuation of the spirit of what has now become over forty years of the Grateful Dead's timeless music.
