Thiel College's Perez-Johnston presents at the Pa. Black Conference on Higher Education

Thiel College Director of First-Year Experience and Transition Programs Angelica Perez-Johnston presented "Evolution of Success for Underserved Students" at the 48th annual Pennsylvania Black Conference on Higher Education in Harrisburg, Pa.
GREENVILLE, Pa. - March 7, 2018 - PRLog -- Thiel College Director of First-Year Experience and Transition Programs Angelica Perez-Johnston presented at the 48th annual Pennsylvania Black Conference on Higher Education in Harrisburg, Pa. on Feb. 24.

The theme of this year's conference was "Valuing Diversity to Cultivate & Sustain Student Success."  The purpose of the conference is to ensure that the educational needs of minorities and African-American students in Pennsylvania are addressed. The Conference is responsible for providing a means of communication and for consulting with local, state, and federal agencies, both private and public, to encourage co-sponsorship of the conference's efforts. Perez-Johnston's presentation was titled "Evolution of Success for Underserved Students."

Thiel's (https://www.thiel.edu/) Perez-Johnston earned a Bachelor of Arts in psychology and a Master of Arts in community counseling from Edinboro University. She is pursuing her Doctorate of Public Administration at West Chester University. Her dissertation focuses on the impacts of higher education policies to support under-served student populations.

Since 1970, Pennsylvania Black Conference on Higher Education has given thousands of dollars in financial support to worthy students through its scholarship program. It also provides ongoing opportunities for minorities in higher education to pursue their professional, social, and personal development. As a not-for-profit organization and a Pennsylvania professional association, they have a purpose is to ensure that African-Americans and other underrepresented groups have access to higher education in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.
