5 Fall Home Maintenance Items from Real Estate Guru Bryan Nazor Esq

Real Estate Closing leader Bryan Nazor Esquire offers his personal checklist to care for your house as the seasons' change

HACKENSACK, NJ / ACCESSWIRE / September 11, 2020 / Throughout the year, there is a myriad of home maintenance tasks to check off your to-do list for each season. Autumn is no exception, said Bryan Nazor Esquire, a title and real estate closing professional located in New Jersey. Be sure to consider getting to these maintenance items done this season, or hire someone around the neighborhood to help out, so that your home is set for the fall and ready for the next season of the year.

Here are five of Bryan Nazor Esquire's top home maintenance to-dos for the fall season.

Tidy up your yard

Fall is the perfect time to check that your yard is in top shape, Bryan Nazor Esquire said. Removing leaves, adding a layer of mulch, an edged lawn, some blooming plants (that are watered regularly) can make a huge difference in your home's appearance. You don't even have to spend a lot of money to ensure that your backyard is looking its best all season.

Test your detectors

This item should be on your to-do list every season. Make sure to check your smoke and carbon monoxide detectors to confirm they are working properly. When checking your smoke detector, press and hold the "test" button. If the noise it emits is too quiet, it's time to change the batteries. In the same way, check the carbon monoxide detector by holding down the "test" button and listening for two beeps. It should only take a few minutes to make sure that your detectors are fully working and it should be something every homeowner should mark as a top priority, Bryan Nazor Esquire said.

Check for water leaks

Make sure to do a thorough inspection of your hose and any exterior faucets for leaks. If there is only a tiny hole in a hose, you can use electrical tape to patch the leak. Just a small leak can add up to a big waste of water and money over the course of the summer, Bryan Nazor Esquire advised, so do your due diligence to make sure everything is in pristine shape for the summer season.

Clean up your porch

If you happen to have a deck or porch, fall is a great time to give it a good cleaning to wipe away pollen and dirt. On top of this,, you should inspect your deck for signs of rotting or nails that are sticking up and could be a hazard. During the winter, the deck may have warped and could need a little TLC. Consider attempting to reseal the deck for the fall as well.

Test your furnace

Bryan Nazor Esquire recommends making sure your furnace and air conditioners are both ready to go as the temperature start to come back down in the fall season. Ceiling fans can be cleaned with a rag to get dust and debris off them, while furnace filters should be cleaned or replaced before you run them. For homes with central air, Bryan Nazor Esq suggests having them serviced professionally to ensure they are fully clean and operational and to help you beat the heat.
