BACK ON MY FEET RECEIVES $1M MAJOR GIFT FROM LIZ AND PHILL GROSS

--News Direct--

National nonprofit Back on My Feet is honored to share the news of a $1M major gift from Liz and Phill Gross of Boston, MA. Back on My Feet has helped over 7,500 individuals combat homelessness in 14 cities across the country. Program participants from homeless shelters and addiction treatment facilities walk or run alongside volunteers in the early morning. By committing to this three day a week fitness program, participants have the opportunity to move into Back on My Feet’s workforce development and training program which then provides support finding employment and housing. This $1M gift creates the Elizabeth and Phill Gross Emergency Alumni Fund, supporting Back on My Feet senior program members and program alumni who have been negatively impacted by COVID-19 and are at risk of slipping back into homelessness.

While COVID-19 has prevented Back on My Feet communities from meeting in person, their virtual community is active and vibrant, supporting members and alumni as they navigate tumultuous employment and economic landscapes. Many members who have worked hard to get themselves out of being homeless, are now facing uncertainty. This is where the Elizabeth and Phill Gross Emergency Alumni Fund will be able to step in, helping to prevent backsliding and keeping lives moving forward.

“Liz and Phill’s dedication to Back on My Feet’s alumni and senior members is incredible. Our community has proven they are strong, showing up for each other in virtual spaces, making each other feel supported. But our members still face harsh economic realities, as many work in front line industries,” said Katy Sherratt, CEO, Back on My Feet. “This transformational gift will make emergency funds available to thousands across the country, providing the critical support they need during this global health and economic crisis.”
