Meet the UK Self-Made Millionaire Samuel Dyson Who Wants to Become the Next Elon Musk

Samuel has taken an interest in business from a young age

LONDON, ENGLAND / ACCESSWIRE / February 24, 2021 / Samuel Dyson has had an interest in business from a very young age. He comes from a business orientated family and grew up around entrepreneurs. His two grandfathers both had successful businesses in demolition and diesel engines as well as his father who manufactured cigar accessories amongst many other things. This meant that Samuel had first-hand experience of what it was like to be a self-made entrepreneur.

Now aged 35, Samuel has gained millionaire status after building up a very impressive business portfolio which includes everything from property, a super dentistry clinic, artificial grass, fire wood and not to mention new start up Lumin Elix, the revolutionising light therapy lamp.

Samuel first discovered his passion for business at the young age of thirteen, while he was at a boarding school in North Yorkshire called Giggleswick. It did not take him long to discover his entrepreneurial routes as he gained the nickname "The Noodle King".

Sam has many different businesses to oversee.

Upon interviewing Samuel, he told us how he earnt the title "The Noodle King".

"I was boarding at a school that sounds like something out of Harry Potter. There were a lot of students who were there from overseas and many were from China. We were allowed to go home every few weeks for a weekend but the students from China weren't able to fly back for a few nights so they stayed at school."

"One day I had this idea so I got my mum to drive me to China Town in Leeds and I started to bulk buy boxes of noodles for the students who had to stay at the school at the weekends. We would go and buy the noodles and come back to sell them on Sunday nights. The next thing I knew I would have a queue of students outside of my door buying noodles from me and I was being called 'The Noodle King'."

As years went by Samuel made close friends that eventually turned into successful business contacts. The contacts Samuel had built up led him to his next venture which was buying and selling furniture for waiting rooms in both doctors and dentistry clinics.

However, the 2008 recession led to Samuel to notice a huge gap in the market where he discovered a more profitable business venture he simply could not overlook. Samuel has owned a variety of very luxurious vehicles

He told us: "After the recession hit the exchange rate just took a dive but as a byproduct land prices crashed. At that point I bought my first building plot."

"I jumped into the deep end without too much knowledge of the property industry. I had family in demolition and knew various property developers, plumbers, joiners who could guide me. Along the way I was always wheeling and dealing with other ventures from buying and selling cars to importing remote-controlled helicopters."

Supporting the NHS through COVID-19

Over the course of the past 12 years Samuel has expanded his property empire with an impressive range of new build developments and has gained permission recently to demolish and build a former men's club in Huddersfield into a block of new apartments.

Sam prides himself on being able to find the positives in any situation, finding new ways to expand into new and emerging sectors.

When England was placed into a national lockdown in March 2020 due to the global pandemic, many business owners suffered heavy blows and endured big losses to their company profits. However, Samuel used his business skills as an opportunity to give back to his local community.

Samuel explained to us:

"As the March lockdown kicked in I got onto the phone to my guys in China and I started importing medical equipment and supplied that to the NHS.I was able to supply Oximeters which checks the Oxygen blood levels. I was diversifying with the pandemic and making the most out of a bad situation and helping out however I could.

"The beauty of the last 12 years is that I'm now in a position where I can now invest in businesses that I have a real passion in."

It was also during this time that Samuel founded Alternative Grass which supplies homeowners across the UK.

"Supplying artificial grass and being able to install it around Yorkshire was so lucrative as everyone was stuck at home. As we were part of the construction industry we could still work and be socially distanced outside. The sun was shining and everyone was getting their holiday money back so the phones were just off the hook."

Realisation that life is short

Taking time to reflect since the pandemic has made Samuel become more environmentally conscious

As winter drew in, various residents throughout the UK were being once again asked to stay at home. Samuel recalls this period of time as a moment to reflect on his life.

Having two young daughters Samuel drew inspiration from the likes of Elon Musk and David Attenborough. He decided he wanted to make sure that his next business opportunity was both sustainable and environmentally responsible.

Samuel said: "I started looking at alternatives when the artificial grass boom quietened. I thought the complete polar opposite of being sat in your garden is being sat in your living room. Everyone needs heating. I started exploring the timber process and that got me questioning a lot of things really.

"Previously I have been very business orientated. I have two little girls and they've not been able to go to school. I've seen the impact of what this pandemic has had on them. Lockdown has really made me realise how short life is."

"Along with trees that are naturally coming to the end of their life or the branches that are being pruned there's also such a big demand for housing in this country and unfortunately there's always going to be trees having to be cut down. It's just part of the process. I thought well what's happening to the trees and the branches, leaves, twigs and where are they going? A lot of the time it's actually all going to landfill, it's surprising how much is going to waste - in fact it's shocking. That's why we are in the process of pelletising the twigs to create wooden pellets so nothing goes to waste."

"We are currently dealing with an agent in Nigeria who is sourcing desert land, we aim to use this land to plant trees on and ultimately convert this desert land in to a forest, we are also looking to replant trees across the UK as well."

Samuel founded Firelogs in December 2020 which supplies kiln-dried firewood logs around the UK.

The entrepreneur has taken a new approach to business and looking to the future he wants to focus his attention onto renewable energy by using pellets to provide fuel for biomass boilers

"I want to create a full cycle so from start to finish it's all about renewable energy, Firelogs.co.uk is in a way the smallest part of it. It's what we are making out of the wasted parts of the tree - the bit that you don't see - is the heart of the business. I want to help create things that will benefit my children and younger generations to come for a brighter future."

"Elon Musk was a name that kept popping up all the time, whether I was installing electric charging points into the new homes or the petrol and diesel ban that's coming in. We need to think of how we can be sustainable - to think about the future and the damaging effects things like fracking has on the environment. It is why biomass is so important. The plan is to have these biomass boilers across the country primarily in commercial properties then looking in other routes such as residential and how we can make a traditional gas boiler more eco-friendly."

Samuel already has a vast range of ventures in the pipeline for the coming year which includes a dentistry academy, allowing trainee dentists to earn a postgraduate diploma and be funded to set up their own practice.

Samuel has taken the time over lockdown to reflect and plan for the future

Samuel's revolutionary new business Lumin Elix was formed in just 28 days after being approached by two entrepreneurs in Manchester to create the vitamin D sunlight replacement lamp.

This is yet another phenomenal business that he is proud to showcase and we are sure we'll see plenty more of Samuel Dyson's business adventures as time goes on.
