NEXT TRUCKING Announces C-Suite Additions To Propel Next Phase of Growth

--News Direct--

NEXT Trucking, a FreightTech pioneer that connects shippers and carriers through a digital marketplace, today announced the addition of two new leaders to advance the company’s technology vision, naming Vipul Shah, Chief Product Officer, and Bo Tao, Chief Technology Officer. As the leader in first-mile technology, these strategic hires will bring deep technical expertise in machine learning, AI, and analytics to advance NEXT’s technology further to address the many critical problems the drayage industry and its stakeholders face today.

NEXT has long been at the forefront of innovation in the logistics space. Now, as the largest technology company in the drayage space, it is looking to bring in world class technology leaders to address long-standing issues facing ports, terminals, yards, and chassis availability. These leadership hires help the company advance its mission of empowering shippers and carriers to simplify and grow their businesses through technologies built to address the biggest pain points in their daily operations. In addition, the added expertise will help the company build out more advanced AI, automation, and analytics capabilities as NEXT’s technology scales with the growth of new business.

“NEXT’s vision has always been about empowering drivers and helping fix the wasted time and inefficiencies, through a first-of-its-kind technology, starting with the first mile,” said Lidia Yan, CEO, NEXT. “There is crowded competition in the middle and last-mile points of the transportation process, but enormous potential lies within that extremely problematic first-mile through automation, machine learning, and improved data and analytics. Vipul and Bo have the technical skills and expertise, as well the experience of scaling large platforms, to fuel NEXT’s growth and expansion.”

Over the past twenty years, Vipul Shah has built software platforms that connect various banking and ecommerce stakeholders in leadership roles at Google and PayPal. He’s helped Google build a $300 billion global commerce platform enabling a 20% compounded annual growth rate for its B2B, B2C, and Marketplace models. In addition to expanding global payments coverage driving $1 billion in gross merchandise value (GMV), Shah also developed machine learning for transaction routing which created an additional $400 million in annual GMV. At Paypal, Shah was key in creating local solutions worldwide which expanded the company’s user base 4X and created an arbitraged payments system creating $400 million in operating profit. Given Shah’s expertise in transforming legacy systems through data analytics and automation, his ability readily translates to the logistics industry and the stakeholders across the supply chain. “I've always been drawn to companies with a mission to make people's lives easier and create economic opportunity (PayPal, Google among them). NEXT's mission to empower drivers and reduce friction in freight does exactly that,” he said. “A platform is not just great code, it's relationships and collaboration with key players in the ecosystem. As I'm learning about the intricate mesh of players in freight, from shippers and drivers to terminals, steamship lines and software providers, I believe I can help NEXT’s technology alleviate port congestion, increase productivity, drastically reduce wait times, and help Shippers prevent expensive demurrage costs.

Bo Tao led engineering for Google’s prominent image and food search and has over twenty years of engineering, product development, and management expertise that he brings to NEXT Trucking. Tao’s experience in scaling large mobile and web applications to create a marketplace with multiple industries will help support NEXT Trucking’s growth initiatives. “Matching shippers and carriers through a marketplace can greatly improve the efficiency of transportation, similar to what we have witnessed in consumer industries,” he said. “NEXT is a leading provider of such products and services with a proven market fit and a long runway ahead of it. I am extremely excited to join a market disruptor and see how technology can help improve the efficiency and economics of drayage to reduce the logistic burdens shipping ports face today.”
