WASHINGTON - Feb. 13, 2024 - PRLog -- Today - Tuesday, February 13th - has been designated World Radio Day by United Nations/UNESCO; and this year Michael Harrison, the founder and publisher of talk-media trade publication Talkers Magazine, has been named Executive Advisor to UNESCO for UN World Radio Day 2024. Harrison appears on the internet video talk show "Jim Peters At Night" tonight with host Jim Peters to talk about the celebration of this day worldwide and his personal involvement. They pre-taped the interview on Monday afternoon.

"It's always fun being a guest on Jim Peters' program," Harrison said. "He asks great questions and creates enough space to really tackle subjects such as the impact of a changing media on society.  We took a deep dive into the significance of World Radio Day 2024, a topic near and dear to my heart."

Peters said, "The UN couldn't have chosen a better person to advise them for World Radio Day than Michael Harrison. He is a living legend in the American radio business, and an endless wealth of knowledge on the subject. We had a great conversation about not just what's happened with radio world-wide over the last hundred years, but also what portends for its future as well."

Harrison is also a member of the iconic '60s rock band Gunhill Road - which is still playing and recording original music over 50 years after its founding - and for World Radio Day they released a new song and music video called "Over The Radio Waves". That music video will be played on the program as well.

"JIM PETERS AT NIGHT" launched as an internet video talk show on July 31st, 2023, and is a continuation of the popular podcasts and radio shows Peters hosted while editor-in-chief of CONK! News ( https://conk.com ). The show is broadcast live Mondays through Thursdays at 11 PM Eastern / 8 PM Pacific on eight popular platforms; go to https://jimatnight.com/ for more info.

TALKERS MAGAZINE ( https://talkers.com/ ) was launched as a print publication during the summer of 1990 by its founder Michael Harrison, and is now the preeminent industry trade publication for talk media in the United States. Harrison is a multi-format radio broadcasting innovator who has been at the center of many of the radio revolutions of the past half-century, both on air and behind the scenes. Harrison is credited with inventing the Album-Oriented Rock (AOR) radio music format, among many other innovations in the radio business. In 2023 the United Nations tapped him to serve as Executive Advisor to UNESCO for UN World Radio Day 2024, called "Radio: A Century of Informing, Entertaining and Educating".
